1 Thes. 2:12
12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
.
This was the heart of Paul whenever he wrote to the churches, that they would be maturing in their faith and become more and more of a purer example of who Christ is! God has called us into His family – and wants us to remember that we represent Him in the fallen world. In a sense – we are now part of a Royal Family – The Family of God.
1 Thes. 1:4
4 knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God. (Col. 3:12)
God has elected some – to hear that Call – and we are to respond with holiness and Christ likeness – by the power of the Holy Spirit! This election should result in an increase of the Fruits of the Spirit. (Gal. 5:22-25) If we are not increasing in these Fruits – the we need to question whether or not we are part of God’s Election – working it out in Fear and Trembling. (2 Peter 1:10)
Since We are Called by Election – and we should be increasing in the Fruit Thereof – Let’s look briefly at this Call.
1. Rom 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
.
The Called – will have all things working together for God’s Glory and our Good – but not for those who do not have the Call of God on their lives. God leaves them to become harden by the circumstance and their sin!
2. 1 Cor. 1:9
9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. ( Deut. 7:9; Is. 49:7; 1 Cor. 10:13; 2 Cor. 1:18; 1 Thess. 5:24; 2 Thess. 3:3 John 15:4)
God is always Faithful to the Called – the Elect – to provide for us the NECESSARY strength we need to follow Him. We can still choose Sin – but never loose our call and election. God is faithful to finish what He has Called and Elected into the family. Here the Word of God when it says in 1 Thes 5:24 – 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.[ 1 Cor. 10:13]; 2 Thess. 3:3 Phil. 1:6
3. 2 Tim. 1:9
9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. [Rom. 3:20]; Eph. 2:8, 9 Rom. 8:28 Rom. 16:25; Eph. 1:4; Titus 1:2)
God has saved me and you for one purpose – HIS PURPOSE – and will faithfully put us in that place. (Whether a place that is seen or not) The most wonderful part of this is that HE planned it before time ever was. I can rest in who I am and where He has me. I can trust that His grace will see me through.
Of course we all need continuous Grace!! (Especially since sinless perfection in this life is unattainable (1 Kings 8:46; Ps. 143:2)
.
Thank you God – for your great mercy and grace that you have shed upon me. I look forward to the day when I will see you Face to Face!
