Prov. 14
Verse 19 The evil will bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Matthew Henry said “The wicked are oftentimes impoverished and brought low, so that they are forced to beg, their wickedness having reduced them to straits; while good men, by the blessing of God, are enriched, and enabled to give, and do give, even to the evil; for where God grants life we must not deny a livelihood. Sometimes God extorts, even from bad men, an acknowledgement of the Excellency of God’s people. The evil ought always to bow before the good, and sometimes they are made to do it and to know that God has loved them (the righteous), Rev. 3:9. They desire their favor (Esther. 7:7), their prayers, 2 King 3:12. 3. There is a day coming when the upright shall have the dominion (Ps. 49:14), when the foolish virgins shall come begging to the wise for oil, and shall knock in vain at that gate of the Lord at which the righteous entered.”
Last night – there was a show on the History channel that was basically stating this:
• The Scripture is not from God but from man
• There is no such thing as the virgin birth
• The disciples did not even know Jesus… and so on.
This “show” was basically stating that the Bible is not something man should look to as the source of truth and foundations for living. It makes me mad that someone would takes on scripture like this. It makes God look like He is not real and that He is completely out of control – or just not paying attention to all that is going on down here. It makes anyone who believes that Scripture is the source of truth – foolish and stupid. It brings down those who already are doubting. It also brings hopelessness to man.
If there Bible is not true – then we have no hope and should live life according to all that we can get from it – for when we die – that is it. “Be all you can be – now for tomorrow you will pass away” – the world says. Shows like this one urges man to seek his own way – his own truth – his own light, for if Scripture is not trustworthy then we are on our own.
There is coming a day when the true light shall shine and all those left in darkness will morn and weep for their own foolishness and stupidity in not seeing that God is real and that He has left His mark on all of creation.
Lord Please come quickly so that you will be lifted up on high and clear… and the history channel and those behind this attack on your Holy Word will be made low before you.
